Refuge of Hope is a non-profit organisation that works in partnership with the Scanlon Foundation. Our mission is to address the wellbeing of immigrants, refugees and international students from Latin America who are living in Melbourne.

VOLUNTEER’S ROLES

Events Volunteer

People who like the dynamic world of events and have multi-tasking skills are welcome to help Refuge of Hope with its monthly events, festivals or activities for the Latin American community.

Time

Time commitment can be anything from 2 to 6 hours per event.

Main Roles

To bring support to bump-in and bump-out the event.
To register attendance in ROH data-base.
To give information about Refuge of Hope to attendees.
To give support to different activities and games depending on the event.

Administrative Volunteer

People with good communication and negotiation skills, who are interested in customers and building stakeholders relationships.

Time

Time commitment can be anything from 1 to 3 hours per week.

Main roles

To enter information and maintain our database.
To send text messages or emails to students and migrants with relevant information about ROH activities and upcoming events.
To suggest content for our Website and Facebook page in order to create high levels of engagement with the community

Refuge of Hope Ambassador and Marketing

People who are good at making new contacts and socializing, have excellent written and communication skills in English and a positive can-do attitude.

Time

Time commitment can be anything from 1 to 3 hours per week.

Main Roles

To promote Refuge of Hope at schools, institutes, universities, migration agencies and any other organisation related to the Latin American community in Melbourne.

To establish a relationship with all organisations and government bodies that offer services to the Latin American community.
To keep a record of the visits and activities which can be used to promote the foundation.

Case Worker

People who enjoy sharing time with people and helping them in difficult times. They will be charismatic and patient and decisive and have excellent communication skills.

Time

Time commitment can be anything from 1 to 3 hours per week.

Main Roles

To provide quality welfare support, emergency care and advice to Latin American immigrants, students and refugees in Melbourne, whilst enabling social cohesion and integration.
To make appropriate referrals to relevant services depending on client needs that have been identified and the goals set out in the case plan.
To recommend and at times make decisions about the best course of action for a particular service user.

Trainer Volunteer

People with skills and knowledge in different areas, who want to share these with Latinoamerican people.

Time

Time commitment can be anything from 2 to 6 hours per week.

Main Roles

Design workshops and training sessions for users of refuge of hope according to their needs.
Organise the event with the coordinator depending on the type of activity planned.
Share your knowledge or experience in a creative ways to facilitate the learning of skills in the latinoamerican community.
